Privacy Policy for The Sarasota Handyman

What this page covers

This page explains, in plain language, what happens to the details you type into the quote form on this website. It covers what the form asks for, what it records without asking, why each piece exists, who sees it, how consent works and how you can ask for your details to be corrected or removed.

When this page says I, me or the business, it means The Sarasota Handyman and the person who runs it and answers the phone at (407) 383-9118. This page describes how the form is built to work, and it is kept in step with the form, so that what you read here matches what the form does.

This page is a description of practice. It is not a contract, and it is not a legal opinion. If anything here is unclear, ask me when I call you back, or use the contact details at the end of this page.

What the quote form asks for

The Request a quote form on this website asks for a small number of things:

That is all the form asks you to type or choose. It does not ask for a payment card, a bank account, a date of birth, a driver licence number or any government number, and you should not type anything like that into it.

The form does not take file uploads and has no message box. If you have photographs or want to describe the job, tell me when I call and I will tell you how to send them.

What the form records without asking

Honesty requires me to mention a few things that happen behind the scenes. When you send the form, a few extra details travel with your request, and you did not type them.

None of these is used to build a profile of you, and none of them is sold. They exist so that the form works, so that your consent can be shown and so that junk can be filtered out.

Why the form asks for each item

Each piece has one job.

The page you sent the form from also tells me which service you were reading about, so I can prepare my questions before I call.

If you would prefer not to share something, you are welcome to leave the form alone and call (407) 383-9118 instead. A phone call needs no form at all.

How I use your details

I use what you send to call you back about the work you asked about. On that call, I talk through the job with you, explain what the price depends on and agree on next steps if you want to go ahead.

Sending the form does not book a visit, take a payment or commit you to anything. It only starts a conversation.

Your details are used for that purpose: replying to your request, and keeping a record of the request while we talk. They are not used to build a profile of you, and I do not use the form to ask for anything unrelated to the work. If your request leads to a job, the details are kept with the record of that job. If it does not, they are kept for the period described below under how long I keep your details, and you can ask me to remove them sooner at any time.

The consent box

The form includes a consent box. Ticking it tells me you agree to be contacted about your request by phone, text message and email, including with automated technology. The wording you see next to the box is the wording you agree to, and a record of it is kept with your request.

The box is there so your agreement is clear and recorded. It is not ticked for you in advance. If you do not tick it, you are choosing not to be contacted through the form, and the form will not go through.

Agreeing to be contacted is not a requirement to buy anything. Asking for a quote does not oblige you to hire me, and you can say no at any point. Message and data rates from your phone company may apply to text messages. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can ask me to stop calling, texting or emailing you by saying so.

No sale of your information

Your information is not sold. The details you send through the form are not offered to other businesses, advertisers or list-sellers, and they are not traded for anything.

The only purpose is the one above: so I can get back in touch about your request. I do not share your details for other companies to market to you.

There are practical exceptions that apply to any business. If I am required by law to provide information, I will do so. If a service I use to run the form, such as the website host or the mail provider, handles the data in the course of delivering it to me, that is part of how the form works. Those services are used for delivering the request and not for marketing.

Communication and consent in detail

By submitting the quote form and ticking the consent box, you agree that The Sarasota Handyman may contact you about your request by phone, by text message and by email. Message and data rates may apply. Agreeing is not a condition of any purchase or service.

You can opt out at any time. Reply STOP to any text message, or call (407) 383-9118 and ask to be removed from contact, and the contact stops. Opting out of texts or calls does not cancel work you have already agreed to, and I may still need to reach you about that work in a way you have approved.

These communications are handled in line with the federal rules on telephone and text contact, and with the Florida rules on telephone solicitation that apply to them. I do not use the form to send marketing to people who did not ask for contact.

Your contact details are not sold, shared or handed to third parties for their marketing.

How to ask for removal

You can ask me to remove your details at any time. When you ask, say your name and the phone number or email you used, so the right request can be found.

I will take your request seriously and tell you what has been done. If you are not sure whether your request has been handled, ask again and a reply will follow. Some records connected to completed work, such as a written scope or a record of payment, may need to be kept for business and legal reasons, and I will tell you if that applies.

Looking at or correcting what you sent

If you made a typing mistake in your phone number or address, or you want to know what you sent, you can ask me. Send a short message through the contact page, or mention it on the call. The simplest fix is usually to tell me the correct detail so that it replaces the wrong one.

If you want a copy of what you submitted, ask, and I will tell you what I hold about your request. I will not ask you to prove anything beyond confirming the details you gave.

What this site does not do

To keep expectations clear, here is what the quote form does not do:

If a page on this site ever asked for more than the items listed above, it would not be following this page, and I would want to know.

Keeping your details safe

I treat what you send with care. Details are used only for answering your request. The form does one simple thing: it gathers the details listed on this page, including the few it records without asking, so a callback can happen.

You can help by double-checking what you type, by not including extra personal information in the form, and by contacting me if you think something has been sent to the wrong place. No method of sending information over the internet is perfectly secure, and I cannot promise otherwise. What I can promise is that I will use what you send for the purpose stated here, and I will tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.

How long do I keep your details?

A request record, meaning the details you sent and the consent record that travelled with it, is kept for 24 months from the day it arrives. That covers the time a house question usually takes to turn into a job, a follow-up visit, or nothing at all. After 24 months it is removed in the ordinary course, unless a job came of it and the record is part of that job's paperwork, or you asked for removal sooner.

Nothing here claims a legal rule sets that number. It is the period I have chosen so that I can answer a follow-up call without asking you to start again, and so that details are not kept just because nobody deleted them.

What do the analytics tools record?

This site is set up to use two measurement tools: Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. Google Analytics counts visits and which pages were read. Clarity records how a page was used, including scrolling, clicks and mouse movement, in the form of a session replay. Both are configured to leave out anything typed into a form field.

Both tools set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. You can stop them with a browser setting, a content blocker, or Google's own opt-out add-on, and every page of this site still works with them blocked.

Neither tool is used to decide anything about you, and nothing from them is sold.

Visiting the site without sending a form

You can read every page on this site without giving any information. Reading a page does not require a form, and nothing on the page asks you to hand over details unless you choose to send a quote request.

Like most websites, this one is delivered by a host that may keep ordinary server records, such as the time of a visit and the page requested. The two measurement tools this site is set up to use, and the cookies they set, are described in the section above, and your browser lets you block or clear cookies whenever you wish.

This page does not make claims beyond what the quote form itself does.

Children

This website is for adults who own or manage property. It is not aimed at children, and the form is not meant to be used by anyone under eighteen. If you believe a child has sent a request, tell me and I will remove it.

Changes to this page

If the form changes, for example by asking for something new, this page will be updated to match. If the way I use your details changes in a way that matters to you, this page should say so. When in doubt, ask me and you will be told directly.

The date and version of the consent wording are recorded with each request, so I can always tell which version of the wording you saw, even after the page is updated.

How to reach me about privacy

Questions about this page, requests to correct or remove your details, or a request that contact stop: call (407) 383-9118, email timothyp@tproco.com, or use the contact page. The business is run from Clermont, Florida, serving Sarasota and Manatee; a mailing address is given on request when you call. You can also use the Request a quote form if you want to ask about work, and your details will be handled as described here.

The terms and conditions explain how work is agreed and carried out, and the home page lists the services I offer. Your trust matters here, and your personal information is handled with care and respect. Thank you for reading.

What happens to a request after it arrives?

It helps to follow one request from the moment you press send, because privacy is mostly about what happens next.

  1. The form sends your details to the website's form handler, a small program on the web server that receives the request.
  2. The handler checks that the request looks genuine: for example that the hidden trap field is empty and that the consent box was ticked.
  3. If it passes, the request is passed to me, so I can read it and call you. If it does not pass, it is discarded or set aside as spam.
  4. You are shown a thank-you page. That page is only a confirmation. Nothing else is added to your request by it.
  5. I call you. If we agree that I will do some work, your details move into the record of that job. If not, the request is closed.

At no point is your request published, posted or shown to other visitors. It does not appear on the website, and it is not used as a testimonial or example.

Photographs, documents and other things you send me

Once we are talking, you may send photographs, a copy of a form an insurer has asked for, a permit or a drawing. Those materials are yours. I use them to understand the job and to prepare for the work, and for nothing else.

Photographs of your home can show more than you intend: a street number, a license plate, a person in a window. Take a look before you send. I will not share photos of your property publicly. If I would like to use a picture of finished work on this site, I will ask first, and I will not use it without your clear agreement. You can say no with no consequence.

Please do not send documents that contain numbers I do not need, such as full bank, card or government identification numbers. If a form you are sending has them, cover them first. I can work without them.

Where to read more

If you want to see how the rest of the site fits together, the about page explains who I am and how I work, the service areas page lists the towns I cover, and the roof inspection and water mitigation pages describe two of the most common reasons people write to me.

If you are ready to ask for a quote, the contact page has the form. If you would rather speak to a person, call (407) 383-9118.
